For his first Métiers d’Art collection for CHANEL, Matthieu Blazy brought the house’s celebrated showcase of craftsmanship to Seoul, presenting the collection at the newly unveiled Centre Pompidou Hanwha ahead of its official opening. First introduced in New York last December, the collection arrives in South Korea as a continuation of Blazy’s vision for the maison, one that balances CHANEL’s heritage of exceptional savoir-faire with a distinctly contemporary sensibility. The ‘new’ CHANEL!
Created in 2002 to honour the specialist ateliers and artisans at the heart of CHANEL’s creative universe, the Métiers d’Art collection has long served as a tribute to the extraordinary craftsmanship behind the house. Under Blazy, that legacy is reimagined through a lens that feels both cinematic and urban, drawing inspiration from everyday life while elevating it through meticulous technique and material innovation. Presented against the cultural backdrop of Seoul, the show also underscores CHANEL’s longstanding relationship with the city and its importance within the global fashion landscape.
By bringing the collection to Seoul, and following the NY presentation in December last year, CHANEL continues its tradition of staging Métiers d’Art presentations in cities that embody creativity, cultural exchange and innovation.
