Frida Kahlo’s life continues to galvanize audiences around the world. The most famous Mexican artist is celebrated at Galerie de l’Instant in Paris with an exhibition of photographs by Lucienne Bloch, photographer and Rivera and Kahlo confidant (January 5, 1909 – March 13, 1999). This exhibition will be running from 4th December 2020 to 8th February 2021.
“That penetrating gaze, so intense, her self-confidence and the weight of this double gaze of the painting above her, had made a deep impression on me during this visit. It happened that a few days later, I came across this photo again, while I was exhibiting at the AIPAD show, still in New York, on a colleague’s booth; I was able to give it to myself. All to my joy and proud of my purchase I then decided to show it on Instagram, and found the tag @ LucienneBloch… A few hours later, I received a message from her little girl, thanking me for my post!” Julia Gragnon, photographer and director of Galerie de l’Instant explained how this exhibition started and how the internet facilitated its birth. A must-see for sure if you’re in Paris.
