National Theatre at Home: A Streetcar Named Desire, Young Vic production

Following Frankenstein The National Theatre at Home continues to bring its best plays to the public for free. Don’t miss Gillian Anderson’s stunning interpretation as Blanche DuBois in A Streetcar Named Desire, co-produced by the Young Vic and Joshua Andrews. It was directed by Benedict Andrews in 2014. The recording of the play will be aired on the National Theatre’s YouTube channel from 7pm UK time on Thursday 21 May for one week only.

Tennessee Williams’ classic play opened on Broadway on December 3, 1947. The narrative evolves around the life of Blanche DuBois, a Southern American woman who leaves her comfortable aristocratic life to shelter with her sister and brother-in-law in a derelict New Orleans flat following a series of sad personal moments.

The critically-acclaimed adaptation for The Young Vic also features Ben Foster (Lone Survivor, Kill Your Darlings) as Stanley and Vanessa Kirby (The Crown, Mission Impossible 7) as Stella.
