hey woman! at Sketch

Sketch Restaurant in London presents hey woman! a very strong exhibition of works by emerging artists running until 4th September 2018. Conceived by French master chef Pierre Gagnaire and restaurateur Mourad Mazouz, sketch was designed as a destination for food, art and music.

hey woman! engages with notions of gender, sexuality, female empowerment and social domination through the work of five artists including Eliza Douglas, Harriet Fleuriot & Sarah Cockings, Hannah Quinlan & Rosie Hastings. Works by these artists are in dialogue with a selection of works by Dianne Harris, Lauren Baker and Liliane Lijn.

Highlights include I am Lost Forever, Floating, an oil painting by Eliza Douglas, a multidisciplinary artist who has recorded music, worked as a model for major brands including Balenciaga and Vetements, and notably collaborated with her partner, Anne Imhof, on Faust, winning the Golden Lion Award at the 2017 Venice Biennale. Moving fluidly between abstraction and realism, this work references ideas surrounding the body and identity.

This exhibition coincides with the City of London’s Women: Work and Power season.
