This morning, Virgil Abloh has been announced as Director of Louis Vuitton’s menswear collections, following the departure of Kim Jones who has recently moved to Dior Homme, remaining at LVMH. Abloh will present his first collection for Louis Vuitton menswear at Paris Men’s Fashion Week next June.
Virgil Abloh, designer, artist and founder of streetwear label Off-White, presented his first collection at Paris Fashion Week in 2015. The polymath designer is famous for reinventing Nike’s iconic sneakers in August 2017, the PVC stilettos he designed in collaboration with Jimmy Choo, and his debut lifestyle furniture pieces for IKEA. The 38-year-old designer is likely to build on the aesthetic approach of his predecessor, mixing street-style influences with luxury design (the Supreme collaboration was huge).
