“I’ve decided to melt into the background. Some will say that I disappear into the landscape; I would say that as far as I’m concerned it’s the background that takes hold of me.” Liu Bolin.
Sculptor, performer and photographer, Liu Bolin, nicknamed “the invisible man” is the subject of an exhibition at the Maison Europeenne de la Photographie (MEP) in Paris. This stunning show follows an advertising campaign he’s performed and designed with clothing brand Moncler, and documented by Annie Leibovitz.
The monumental exhibition explores the central ideas in his oeuvre: politics and censorship, tradition and Chinese culture, consumer society, and freedom of the press. The Winter Solstice, one of his latest artworks is one of the highlights of the show. The artwork touches on climate change and the risks the earth is facing.
