Formerly artistic director for Hermès, Christophe Lemaire has also worked with Thierry Mugler and Christian Lacroix. “Working for him everyday and listening to his references and his amazing sense of colours and textures… I learnt so much from him. Yes it’s a lot more baroque and costume than my own [work] but he was the first person to give me confidence. He was a mentor whom encouraged me.” He said about Lacroix.
Today, Lemaire collaborates on a regular basis with the Japanese brand Uniqlo. They started working together in 2015, and a few fruitful collections propelled him to become the permanent creative director of Uniqlo U. Lemaire works closely with his partner Sara-Linh Tran.
The second collection from Uniqlo U – progressive LifeWear essentials created in the visionary UNIQLO Paris R&D Center by a small and focused team of international designers, has recently been launched. Uniqlo U pushes the boundaries of functionality and style, bringing simplicity, clear lines and ultimate sophistication to Uniqlo LifeWear through advanced materials, innovative techniques and unique shapes.
