David Bowie at 80: a celebration

Few artists have shaped contemporary culture as profoundly as David Bowie. Musician, performer, actor, painter, fashion icon and visual provocateur, Bowie spent five decades turning reinvention into an art form, moving effortlessly between media and influencing popular and underground cultures.

Now, as 2027 marks what would have been his 80th birthday, Bowie80 will celebrate that extraordinary legacy through a year of exhibitions, collaborations, performances, releases and fan experiences around the world.

The programme begins with an exclusive collaboration with Nordstrom, bringing Bowie’s influence on fashion to immersive spaces in New York, Seattle and Chicago, with limited-edition collections from brands including Undercover, Marc Jacobs, Paul Smith and AllSaints.

In New York and West Hollywood, Morrison Hotel Gallery’s Strange Fascination will present defining and previously unreleased photographs spanning six eras of Bowie’s career. In Copenhagen, BOWIE (breaking) GLASS will bring his original recordings into dialogue with the music of Philip Glass in a new live symphonic production.

Bowie’s visual world will also continue to travel. David Bowie: You’re Not Alone, the immersive Lightroom exhibition, will expand to Manchester, Brighton and Hamburg, while the V&A’s David Bowie: On Tour will take artefacts from his vast archive across the UK.

From fashion and photography to performance and sound, Bowie80 reflects an artist whose influence continues to cross boundaries and generations.
