For Amnesty International’s latest Now More Than Ever collection, Bella Freud has created a new T-shirt: the I Miss You T-shirt, a deceptively simple piece carrying a message that feels particularly poignant right now.

Kate Moss lends her support to the campaign, joining Freud in championing Amnesty International and its decades-long fight for human rights. The collaboration arrives at a moment when the freedoms many have come to regard as fundamental, the right to speak freely, protest safely, seek protection and live without discrimination, are under increasing pressure.

For more than 60 years, Amnesty has stood at the forefront of that fight. Now, as the organisation marks 65 years of defending human rights, its latest collection looks both backwards and forwards: honouring a long history of activism while confronting an increasingly uncertain present.

Freud’s contribution is characteristically direct. I Miss You is intimate, almost romantic in its simplicity, yet placed within the context of Amnesty’s campaign, the words take on a broader resonance. What, or indeed, who, do we miss when rights are eroded? And what happens when the freedoms we once assumed would always be there begin to disappear? So much is lost. Freud turns a familiar fashion language into an invitation to pay attention.

The Now More Than Ever collection is ultimately a reminder that activism does not belong solely to the streets or the courtroom. It can exist in culture, in design and in the choices we make about what we wear and what we choose to stand behind.
