Gerhard Richter at MET Breuer

Gerhard Richter: Painting After All exquisitely closes MET’s presence in the Madison Avenue Breuer building. At 88, Richter is recognised as one of the most important contemporary German artists.

The exhibition, staged in the iconic space until 5th July 2020, examines Richter’s abstraction through over one hundred works which explore concepts related to history, materiality and realism.

Significant loans include the series Cage (2006) and Birkenau (2014), as well as the recent work House of Cards (2020), all of which are exhibited in the US for the first time.
