Picasso and photography in Barcelona

What can still be explored about Picasso? Picasso, the Photographer’s Gaze, an exhibition  presented at the Picasso Museum of Barcelona until 24th September, examines the relationship between photography and the artist. It carefully demonstrates Picasso’s interest in photography throughout his life.

The show brings together images made by the artist (including a series of very inventive self-portraits), portraits of him by the greatest French and international photographers (Robert Doisneau, Irving Penn, Richard Avedon …) and views of his different workshops, fabulous spaces of creation paintings, sculptures, books and objects were amassed.

This exhibition, based on the artist’s considerable personal archives, presents more than a hundred vintage photographic prints and never before-shown glass plates. Chronological sections and thematic highlights guide the viewer.
