To promote the Old Masters sale in July, Sotheby’s partners with Victoria Beckham for an exclusive showcase of sixteen works by painters including Rubens, Cranach, Larkin and Durer among others. Juxtaposed with Beckham’s handbags, dresses and latest collection, the mix works really well. For this first collaboration, Beckham has chosen the curatorial theme of portraiture, spanning from the Renaissance and the Dutch Golden Age to the British 18th century.
The paintings chosen by Beckham are on view in her dramatic store on Dover Street until tomorrow and will be offered at Sotheby’s sale on July 4th.
“It was my first visit to the Frick in New York last year that really opened my eyes to Old Master and is where my fascination began,” Beckham said in a statement about the project. “To have now been given the opportunity to start to learn about them… and have these portraits hanging within my retail space is literally a dream come true.” – she said.
