Charity Marie Curie has partnered with auction house Christie’s to stage an online auction featuring the works of over thirty artists, including Darren Baker and Barbara Rae. The funds raised through The Marie Curie Great Summer Art Auction will be going to support the efforts of the charity.
Marie Curie was selected by employees as the 2020 Christie’s UK Charity. It provides care and support for people living with any terminal illness, and their families. Last year Marie Curie cared for over 40,000 people across the UK.
“Just at the time our hospices, community nursing services, and support line are needed more than ever as part of the national coronavirus response, our income has been decimated. In people’s homes and in Marie Curie’s hospices, the charity is caring for people with terminal illnesses, as well as people with COVID-19. However, as the charity has stepped up its support for the nation, its fundraising income has been devastated by the impact of the coronavirus.
We are delighted to launch this exclusive online art auction in association with Christie’s. Together, we can continue to raise funds to support Marie Curie Nurses and hospice staff who are on the front lines providing vital care when it is needed the most.” said Susan Boissier, Head of Special Events, Marie Curie.
Bidding is through the online platform at: www.christies.com/mariecurie The display runs until Wednesday 16th September 2020.
