Christo and Jeanne Claude at Centre Pompidou

Born on the same day in 1935 in Gabrovo, Bulgaria and Casablanca, Morocco respectively, Christo and his late wife Jeanne-Claude, who died in 2009, began their collaboration in 1961 with their first outdoor temporary work Stacked Oil Barrels and Dockside Packages, Cologne Harbor, 1961. From 18th March to 15th June 2020, Centre Pompidou in Paris will present an exhibition focusing on their large scale projects.

Christo and Jeanne-Claude’s work has been instrumental in shifting the paradigm from depicting the landscape to creating an alternate, visual response by modifying it.

The major exhibition in Paris, will focus on the wrapping of the Pont-Neuf in Paris, and will reflect on their creative years 1958 and 1964, before unveiling a wrapping of the Arc de Triomphe on 19th September.
