2019 not only marks the fiftieth anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing – it is also the anniversary of David Bowie’s song “Space Oddity”. In 2016, British astronaut Tim Peake paid tribute to David Bowie and his iconic song. In 2013 Canadian astronaut Chris Hadfield recorded a cover of Bowie’s “Space Oddity” from the ISS, complete with a guitar floating in zero gravity.
This year and to celebrate the occasion, a brand-new music video has just been released under the direction of Ziggy Stardust producer and long-time friend and collaborator Tony Visconti.
In this “2019 Mix” images from Bowie’s legendary 1997 concert at Madison Square Garden, organized to celebrate his fiftieth birthday are mixed with other 1980s visuals. Visconti continues to maintain Bowie’s incredible legacy.
