Vans and the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam, have joined forces to present an exclusive collection which launched on Friday last week. The Van Gogh Museum will dedicate a portion of its profits from this project to the preservation of Vincent van Gogh’s legacy and collection of art, keeping it accessible for future generations, a remarkable initiative. That’s a pioneering marketing collaboration between one of the most famous artists and the celebrated skaters’ brand.
“People from all over the world really love Van Gogh and want a piece of him, as it were. We’re always looking to find new ways [to] make his work [feel] relevant today.” Axel Rüger, Director of the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam who was interviewed by Art is Alive a few months ago said about the partnership.
Vans worked closely with the Van Gogh Museum team to select iconic Van Gogh drawings and paintings to illustrate shoes, jackets, t-shirts and sweaters. Skull, Almond Blossom, Sunflowers and Van Gogh’s self-portrait are some of the Dutch artist’s works that have been selected amongst more than 2,000 pieces for this fantastic collaboration.
