AUSTRIA KUNSTFORUM revisits “the universal Man Ray”

Running from 14 February to 24 June 2018, Man Ray staged at Kunstforum, Vienna, will examine “the universal Man Ray”: the multifaceted visionary artist who pioneered painting, design, photography, film, artifacts, and who worked in fashion, typography, and portraiture.

Kunstforum Vienna has gathered more than 150 pieces from collections around the world, including paintings, photographs, works on paper, collages, assemblages and experimental films tracing the entire career of the American artist who paved the way for contemporary art. The exhibition will explore his enigmatic personality, legacy, and aura which paved the way for contemporary art.

Critically addressing the issues that appear throughout his œuvre, such as the closeness and distance between male and female physicality, the brilliant exhibition will focus on Man Ray as the archetype of the curious artist, pushing the boundaries of every single medium associated with the most glamorous and creative circles of society.
