Sotheby’s to offer Mario Testino’s art collection

Elizabeth Peyton, Pink (Spencer) (Three), 2002

From 8-13 September, the most-celebrated photographer Mario Testino will offer his collection to auction house Sotheby’s. The proceeds of this sale will partly fund MATE, Testino’s private museum and art centre located in Lima, Peru. To coincide with the sale of over 400 works from “royal provenance”, a series of talks by friends and collaborators from the worlds of art, fashion and photography will take place in London. Testino’s own work will also be presented to give a full insight into the artist’s world.

“Art had a transformative effect on my life and I want to give people this same opportunity. I hope through Museo MATE and all its activities we can do that”  Testino said ahead of the exhibition and sale in London.

‘Shake It Up’ will feature the work of artists including Richard Prince, Georg Baselitz, Wolfgang Tillmans, Rudolf Stingel, Sterling Ruby, Gilbert & George and Cindy Sherman, to emerging names from every corner of the globe.
