“Arriving in Ibiza the first time was such a beautiful experience. To find the untouched hills and traditions of old Spain that still existed in San Juan was just magical; I stayed for eighteen years.” – Jade Jagger.
Since the 1930s, Ibiza has been a mystical and creative spot: firstly for artists and intellectuals fleeing oppression including Man Ray to Hollywood stars such as Elizabeth Taylor and Laurence Olivier fleeing tabloids in postwar Europe and Summer of Love free-spirited artists. Ibiza remains a hippie-chic meets yoga-fan location. While rock legends including Pink Floyd, Freddie Mercury, Joni Mitchell and David Bowie also retreated in Ibiza, fashion talents such as Kate Moss and Jade Jagger embody the spirit of the island the best today. The fantastic book captures the moments that make the island magical from Joni Mitchell posing for Salvador Dalí or Freddy Mercury filming the video for Barcelona with Montserrat Caballé
Renu Kashyap, a former fashion designer and editor based in Ibiza since 2012 selected hidden places and confidential locations through a narrative that focuses on the island’s bohemian lifestyle, architecture, landscapes and gypsy-style aficionados. Maya Boyd is a travel writer whose work appears in titles including Condé Nast Traveller, Elle, and The Guardian. She is also the founder of the cultural and historical forum Ibiza Insights.
Ibiza Bohemia explores this colourful world with its scenic Balearic cliffs, its legendary cast of people, and the archetypal interiors that define the island’s signature style from electro, Boho and beautiful atmospheric landscapes.
