Musée d’art moderne de Céret and Galerie Jeanne Bucher Jaeger present Vieira da Silva, L’Espace de Jeu

Maria-Elena-Vieira-da-Silva-Sans-titre-1952

Vieira da Silva, one of the most important artists of the 20th century, contributed to the reinvention of “space”, distorting this concept and giving it new intellectual and spiritual dimensions. The legacy of cubism is clearly present in her work through processes that include re-compositions of subjects, and multiple viewpoints.

The exhibition Vieira da Silva, l’Espace de Jeu presented at the Musée d’art moderne de Céret, France, gives a fantastic opportunity to discover an artist rarely exhibited in France. Her last exhibition took place at the Musée Fabre in Montpellier in 1994. The show traces the exceptional journey of the artist exploring more than half a century of creation. Rare works are on view in this elegant presentation.

Vieira da Silva, l’Espace de Jeu is curated in close collaboration with the Foundation Árpád Szenes – Vieira da Silva Lisbon and Galerie Jeanne Bucher and runs until 5 May.
