Beastland is an illustrator, designer and printmaker currently living and working in Stockholm, Sweden. He studied Illustration at Middlesex University before completing an MA at Central St Martins. His influences are largely print-based, with both a love for the energy and humour of punk-era collage and DIY band related printed matter, but also the beautiful colours and technical ability shown in early film poster lithography. In addition, expert mark making is a huge inspiration be it Albrecht Dürer or Robert Crumb. He has exhibited in the UK, Sweden, the Netherlands, and the US.
“Along with realism I like to allow myself to wander through humour and ambiguity on a page, to try and surprise myself and fuel my childhood love for producing art, which as a kid would keep me busy for days at a time, desperate for something to draw on, ripping blank fly-leaves from my parents’ precious books”.
