Pieter Mulier joins Versace

Belgian designer Pieter Mulier has been appointed the new creative director of Italian luxury house Versace, with his tenure beginning on 1 July 2026, the Prada Group announced on Thursday.

Mulier, who currently serves as creative director at Paris‑based Alaïa, will take over from Dario Vitale, who stepped down in December 2025 after a short tenure.

The appointment marks a new chapter for Versace under the Prada Group, which completed its acquisition of the brand late last year. In his role, Mulier will report directly to Lorenzo Bertelli, Versace’s executive chairman and heir within the Prada family business.

Mulier trained in architecture in Brussels before embarking on a fashion career that included close collaborations with fellow Belgian designer Raf Simons at Calvin Klein, Jil Sander, and Christian Dior. Since joining Alaïa in 2021 as creative director, he has been credited with reinvigorating the brand through critically acclaimed collections and commercially successful designs.

Announcing the appointment, Bertelli emphasised that the decision aligns with the group’s vision for Versace, expressing confidence that Mulier would “unlock Versace’s full potential” by honoring the house’s iconic legacy while shaping its creative future.
