Christopher Le Brun: Moon Rising in Daylight at Almine Rech

Almine Rech Paris, Turenne features Moon Rising in Daylight, Christopher Le Brun’s first solo exhibition with the gallery, on view from October 18 to December 20, 2025 in Paris to coincide with Art Basel Paris.

Le Brun’s works in this exhibition demonstrate how layers of paint and brushstrokes build slowly over time, creating a dense, textured surface. Rather than inviting the viewer to look through the painting for illusory depth, these works encourage exploration of the surface, from top to bottom and edge to edge, revealing subtle variations in colour, texture, and relief.

Vertical panels in the exhibition expand the canvas both in height and breadth, establishing a horizon within the work itself. This “hinterland” underpins the visible surface, creating a sense of space that is both psychological and metaphysical, connecting what is seen to what is implied.

The show evokes temporal and seasonal shifts, inviting viewers to experience sensations such as seeing the moon in daylight or feeling the warmth of summer on an autumn day. These sensory and perceptual experiences underscore Le Brun’s interest in the interplay between the perceptible and the abstract, offering an engagement with painting that is both meditative and immediate. Simply beautiful!

Moon Rising in Daylight runs from October 18 to December 20, 2025, at Almine Rech Paris, Turenne.
