“Father Mother Sister Brother” written and directed by Jim Jarmusch will be in competition and part of the official selection of the 2025 Venice Film Festival.
““Father Mother Sister Brother is a kind of anti-action film, its subtle and quiet style carefully constructed to allow small details to accumulate – almost like flowers being carefully placed in three delicate arrangements. Collaborations with the masterful cinematographers Frederick Elmes and Yorick Le Saux, the brilliant editor Afonso Gonçalves and other frequent collaborators elevate what started as words on a page into a form of pure cinema.” Jim Jarmusch said.
Father Mother Sister Brother is a feature film, though carefully constructed in the form of a triptych. The three accumulating stories all concern the relationships between adult children, their somewhat distant parent (or parents), and each other.
The film stars: Tom Waits, Adam Driver, Mayim Bialik, Charlotte Rampling, Cate Blanchett, Vicky Krieps, Sarah Greene, Indya Moore, Luka Sabbat, Françoise Lebrun. Father Mother Sister Brother is presented by Saint Laurent Productions and Saint Laurent by Anthony Vaccarello, MUBI and The Apartment (a Fremantle company) among other partners.
Saint Laurent Productions is now making its first appearance in official competition, at the Venice Film Festival, after being present at the Cannes Film Festival for two consecutive years — in 2023 with the short films “Strange Way of Life” by Pedro Almodóvar and “Trailer of the Film That Will Never Exist” by Jean-Luc Godard, and in 2024 with three feature films in competition “Emilia Perez” by Jacques Audiard, Parthenope by Paolo Sorrentino, and “The Shrouds” by David Cronenberg.
