Producers Michael Cassel and Adam Kenwright have announced tickets for Sydney Theatre Company’s acclaimed production of DRACULA, starring the incomparable Cynthia Erivo and adapted and directed by visionary theatre-maker Kip Williams.
Previews begin at Noël Coward Theatre on Wednesday 4 February, with opening night on Tuesday 17 February. The 16-week season concludes Saturday 30 May 2026.
Erivo, celebrated for her Tony®, Grammy®, and Emmy® wins and three Academy Award® nominations, returns to the stage for the first time in nearly a decade in a daring one-actor reimagining of Bram Stoker’s gothic masterpiece. She will embody all twenty-three characters, from the naïve Jonathan Harker and his fiancée Mina Murray to Lucy Westenra, her suitors, Van Helsing, and the formidable Count Dracula themselves.
Following the global release of Wicked: For Good this November, Erivo moves into rehearsals for DRACULA, offering West End audiences the rare opportunity to witness one of the world’s most extraordinary performers at the height of her powers in a performance that is as intimate as it is ambitious. Her recent work includes her acclaimed role as Elphaba in Universal Pictures’ Wicked, her second studio album I Forgive You, and upcoming roles in Gina Prince-Bythewood’s Children of Blood and Bone alongside Viola Davis, Idris Elba, and Amandla Stenberg. She was also seen this spring in the hit Peacock series Poker Face.
DRACULA marks the climactic chapter in Tony®-nominated director Kip Williams’ gothic trilogy, following his trailblazing adaptations of The Picture of Dorian Gray and the award-winning Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde. Williams’ bold reinterpretation reframes Stoker’s tale as a psychological exploration of fear and desire, suggesting that the monster may dwell not outside us, but within.
The London production reunites Williams with his award-winning creative team, including Olivier Award-winning designer Marg Horwell, lighting designer Nick Schlieper, composer Clemence Williams, sound designer Jessica Dunn, video designer Craig Wilkinson, and dramaturg Zahra Newman. Combining live video, pre-recorded film, and virtuosic performance, DRACULA continues Williams’ pioneering exploration of ‘cine-theatre’, a hybrid form reshaping contemporary theatre. Something to look forward to in 2026!
