The Fashion in Film Festival returns to the UK

The Fashion in Film Festival, a UK non-profit arts organisation based at UAL Central Saint Martins, in London, will return with its BFI-supported 2025 edition, GROUNDED: Fashion’s Entanglements with Nature, from September and October this year.

The festival’s UK-wide leg will take place at independent arts venues from September-October including: Arnolfini Bristol, Dundee Contemporary Arts (in partnership with V&A Dundee), Eden Court Inverness, Glasgow Film Theatre, and more. The festival will also collaborate with V&A Dundee on their Garden Futures: Designing with Nature exhibition.

This landmark programme platforms cinema to investigate the intricate connections between fashion and the natural world, while highlighting the subtle ecological challenges society faces today.

The co-curators Marketa Uhlirova & Dal Chodha said: “While working on Grounded, we wanted to take the idea of ‘curating’ back to its original meaning, which is caring for something or tending to something. We have tended to our films like gardeners tend to trees, trying to grow new branches of thought as well as some hope for the future.”

Covering works from the early 20th century to the present, GROUNDED explores fashion as both a barrier and a bridge between humans and nature.

Featuring over 30 films spanning documentary, fiction, artist and experimental cinema, early cinema, and fashion film, the programme presents a wide spectrum of narratives.
