Veronica Electronica, Madonna’s long-shelved remix album originally intended as a 1998 companion to Ray of Light, was finally released on July 25 via Warner/Rhino Records. The eight-track collection features re-imagined versions of classics like “Ray of Light,” “Frozen,” and “Drowned World/Substitute for Love,” with fresh remixes by William Orbit, Sasha, BT, Peter Rauhofer, and Victor Calderone. Also included is the long-unreleased demo “Gone Gone Gone,” produced with Rick Nowels, which immediately topped the US iTunes chart upon release.
Critics and fans have warmly welcomed the release, noting standout tracks like the Sasha and BT remix of “Drowned World” and a drum-and-bass-infused version of “The Power of Good-Bye” that breathe new life into Madonna’s late-90s electronica era. While some remixes drew mixed reviews, the album is widely seen as a rich re-visitation of a transformative period in her career. Following the rapid sellout of its limited silver-vinyl edition, a second clear-vinyl pressing and CD release are set for October 10, 2025. The superstar was also seen this week in the streets of NYC and on the set of the Devil Wears Prada 2. Madonna is everywhere and beyond active these days.
