Ahead of his Dior debut on June 27, creative director Jonathan Anderson shares images from his mood board, offering insights into the inspirations informing his new vision. “As I started out on this journey, I kept returning to these photographs of Basquiat and Radziwill who are both, for me, the epitome of style.”
Even before Jonathan Anderson officially exited Loewe in March, speculation had been circulating that he was destined for Dior. So when the announcement finally came, half a year after the departure of Dior’s menswear lead and just days after Maria Grazia Chiuri presented her latest womenswear collection in Rome, it felt like confirmation rather than surprise.
Still, Anderson’s arrival at the helm of one of fashion’s most historic maisons signals a significant shift. Dior, long anchored in tradition, now embarks on a more avant-garde trajectory. As Delphine Arnault, chair and CEO of Christian Dior Couture, told Vogue Business, “Introducing new artistic direction is always a challenge for any house.”
