The Guggenheim Museum Bilbao will present the first survey exhibition in Spain of work by renowned artist Barbara Kruger. This exhibition, running from 24 June to 9 November 2025, will showcase Kruger’s ability to transform architectural spaces into immersive, text-driven experiences.

Over decades, Kruger has presented her work across various spaces and forms, including on buildings, billboards, hoardings, buses, and skate parks.

Barbara Kruger said: “It would be great if my work became archaic, if the issues that they try to present, the commentary that I’m trying to suggest was no longer pertinent. Unfortunately, that is not the case at this point.”

Visitors will step into powerful installations where language takes center stage, enveloping entire environments with vinyl, soundscapes, and multichannel video works. Many of these pieces revisit and reimagine Kruger’s early works, brought to life anew through digitization, large-scale LEDs, and the integration of sound.
