Centre Pompidou-Metz celebrates 15 years with Maurizio Cattelan

To mark its 15th anniversary, Centre Pompidou-Metz stages Endless Sunday, a landmark exhibition that takes over the entire museum. Over 400 works from the Centre Pompidou’s collection are reinterpreted through the unflinching lens of Maurizio Cattelan. Alongside them, around thirty of the Italian artist’s own works offer a poignant, clear-eyed reflection on the myths of modern life. This initiative is staged from 8th May 2025 to 2nd February 2027.

Berger&Berger’s immersive scenography transforms the museum into a looping path, echoing both the cyclical nature of time and the architecture by Shigeru Ban and Jean de Gastines.

A publication designed by Irma Boom accompanies the show. More than a traditional exhibition catalogue, it delves deeper into the themes of the exhibition. Within its pages, Cattelan shares personal insights into his work and life, rendering the book as much an autobiography as a collection of ideas.

The wall texts speak with a distinctive voice, that of Maurizio Cattelan and the women incarcerated at Giudecca Prison in Venice, expressed through an alphabetical structure. Occasionally, group visits are accompanied by women inmates from the Metz Penitentiary Center, who have been trained in art mediation. This generous project will celebrate the museum in remarkably new ways.
