The Sainsbury Sculpture Park

The Sculpture Park surrounds the award-winning Sainsbury Centre, designed by Norman Foster, on the University of East Anglia campus in the UK and it’s a spectacular space. Spanning 350 acres of parkland, it offers a unique mix of exceptional art, architecture, and natural beauty. It is one of the most significant art parks and exhibition centres in the UK.

The park features major monumental works by renowned artists including Henry Moore, Rebecca Warren, Elisabeth Frink, Lynn Chadwick, Liliane Lijn, and Antony Gormley who chose several sites across the campus to install three casts of his own body. Questioning humanity, these striking figures create moments of unexpected encounter. Vladimir Tatlin’s vibrant Model of the Monument to the Third International, 1919-1920, is another highlight.

In addition to its formal sculpture gardens, the park encompasses the serene landscapes of the Broad and Yare river valleys, alongside striking examples of modernist architecture by prominent figures such as Norman Foster, Denys Lasdun, and Rick Mather.

In the gallery, currently on view is Sea Inside, an exhibition exploring humanity’s interconnections with oceans. It is curated by Dr Sarah Wade and Dr Pandora Syperek,. The show features contemporary artworks across a range of media by renowned international artists including Laure Prouvost and Hiroshi Sugimoto, as well as a new commission by Gabriella Hirst.

The park supports rich biodiversity, including ancient oak trees, wild rabbits, and various rare and endangered species. The Sainsbury Centre and Sculpture Park make for the best outing in Spring and Summer.
