Gallery Weekend Berlin is a yearly contemporary art event that turns the city into a lively meeting point for art lovers, collectors, curators, and artists from across the globe. Founded in 2005 by a group of local gallerists, it has since become one of the most eagerly awaited highlights of the Berlin art world as galleries present the best shows and international patrons travel to visit the programmes of the participating galleries and museums.
Highlights this year include an exhibition of works by Tom of Finland, featured at Galerie Judin who joined forces with Pace Gallery which has its own programme. Widely regarded as one of the most influential artists of the 20th century, Tom of Finland embodies multiple superlatives with ease. A defining figure of the gay rights movement, fashion, fetish culture, art history, and pop culture, his impact is global. His work continues to inspire artists and icons such as David Hockney, Jean Paul Gaultier, and has inspired Freddie Mercury, and Robert Mapplethorpe among others. Die Tankstelle features over 20 drawings by the artist and the show will remain on view beyond Gallery Weekend – until 14 June 2025.
