Seoul’s Leeum Museum of Art presents Pierre Huyghe

Huyghe’s work often evolves over time, incorporating processes of change, decay, and life cycles. His pieces might evolve, transform, or even die, creating a dialogue about the passage of time. He’s one of the most important living artists.

Open now until 6 July, Seoul’s Leeum Museum of Art will feature Huyghe’s first solo exhibition in Asia. Liminal traces Huyghe’s exploration of new worlds over the past decade, including works co-commissioned with Punta della Dogana of the Pinault Collection.

Huyghe transformed the space into a dynamic setting where human and non-human entities coexisted, creating subjectivities that evolved, adapted, and hybridized. The exhibition featured a video titled Liminal (2024), showcasing a faceless, nude woman navigating through a dark, seemingly infinite space. This figure was a real-time simulation, responding to data collected by sensors in the room and linked to an artificial neural network that provided basic sensory functions.
