David Hockney’s largest show ever to be staged, at LV Foundation

In Spring 2025, the Fondation Louis Vuitton, in Paris, will host a monumental exhibition dedicated to David Hockney, one of the most influential artists of the 20th and 21st centuries. Running from April 9 to September 1, 2025, this groundbreaking show will occupy the entire building, offering an unprecedented exploration of Hockney’s creative journey. And we can’t wait!

The exhibition will feature over 400 works spanning from 1955 to 2025, sourced from international museums, private collections, the artist’s own studio, and his foundation. Visitors will encounter an array of media, including oil and acrylic paintings, ink, pencil, and charcoal drawings, as well as digital art created on iPhones and iPads, photographic drawings, and immersive video installations, offering a comprehensive look at the artist’s innovative and multifaceted practice.

“This exhibition means an enormous amount because it is the largest exhibition I’ve ever had – 11 rooms in the Fondation Louis Vuitton. Some of the most recent paintings I’m working on now will be included in it, and I think it’s going to be very good.” Hockney said.

The exhibition is accompanied by a lavishly illustrated book, with new texts, published jointly by Fondation Louis Vuitton and Thames & Hudson.  It will feature contributions by Suzanne Pagé, Sir Norman Rosenthal, James Cahill, Magdalena Gemra, Anne Lyles, François Michaud, Simon Schama, Donatien Grau, Eric Darragon, Théo de Luca, Fiona Maddocks and Philippe-Alain Michaud.
