Giorgio Griffa in Torino

Giorgio Griffa presents Una linea, Montale e qualcos’altro (A line, Montale and something else), a solo exhibition at the Castello di Miradolo in San Secondo di Pinerolo, Turin. Crossing four seasons and utilizing both the castle and the park, the exhibition showcases over fifty years of the artist’s work, including site-specific works created specifically for the gardens.

In 1936, Giorgio Griffa was born in Turin. When he was younger, he began painting. After receiving traditional painting training, he started creating abstract paintings and started writing poems for himself in 1968. His exploration of colours, materiality, celebrating fibonacci and nature are the dominant themes of his spectacular oeuvre. Giorgio Griffa, remains an abstract painter intimately associated with the Arte Povera movement. He rose to prominence in the 1960s as a member of an Italian artistic movement that aimed to completely reinterpret the medium of painting.

Una linea, Montale e qualcos’altro was produced by the Cosso Foundation and Archivio Giorgio Griffa, and curated by Giulio Caresio and Roberto Galimberti, in close collaboration with the artist. It’s on view in this remarkable setting until December 2024.
