BUTT 33 x Bottega Veneta

Co-editors Gert Jonkers and Jop van Bennekom founded BUTT in 2001, and the magazine lived up to its kinky and intellectual moniker. The quarterly magazine covered LGBTQI+ lifestyle trends, conducted in-depth interviews with numerous queer artists, and released editorials before closing its doors in 2011. Since BUTT shuttered, it was the subject of a Taschen hardcover and 2018 documentary, After Butt. But it’s now been relaunched by its iconic editors and Bottega Veneta making BUTT cooler than ever!

The BUTT look was edgy, real, and unapologetic. Real viewpoint on gay lifestyle was captured in its pages; this perspective was then filtered through the BUTT community (known as BUTTheads, to those who subscribed) and returned to the magazine in the form of fan-submitted images, tales, and essays.

“The ‘veritable home of faggotry’ is back with its Autumn 2023 issue, featuring ‘Emil’s gloryhole’ on the front cover (see more on page 102). Inside, you’ll find a fully loaded issue on a quest to create new queer worlds. Features include interview with professional wrestler Sonny Kiss, sharing sandwiches with chef Andy Baraghani, a studio tour in LA with Jwan Yosef, and much more.” said the description of the latest amazing issue by Bottega Veneta.

The latest issue continues to explore LBTQI+ sexuality with wit and intelligence. The shoots are fantastic and highlights this time include a very hot photoshoot and interview with Jwan Yosef exploring his inspiration as an artist, his fantasies and tastes and Pol Anglada’s exclusive set of blue drawings. Paul Preciado’s eminent interview as a “punk philosopher talking body politics” by Juliana Huxtable is also amazing. It is distributed by Antenne Books.
