Aiming to present the world of Greek Ceramics to a wider audience, Eléonore Trenado-Finetis – founder of MON COIN STUDIO contemporary art space, celebrates Greek ceramicists with an exhibition and a platform listing the most significant artists and their studios in Greece.
Following an exploration of Sifnos, she’s now focusing on Crete, an island where ceramic handcrafting art goes back to the Neolithic Era. The Minoans, as impeccable craftsmen, had elevated ceramic art to highest levels creating masterpieces that adorn museums all over Crete and the world. “A handmade piece of pottery carries not only the energy of the maker [and] an imprint of their soul, but [their] attention, [their] love and respect for the material and for the beauty of life.” Eléonore Trenado-Finetis said to the FT last year.
“CRETE” ceramics exhibition, is the second of a series of shows, which this time presents 50 ceramic workshops based in Crete Island, running until 22 October of 2023 in the heart of Athens, at the Monastiraki district, where MON COIN STUDIO is located.
