Hedi Slimane has further ventured into contemporary art by staging pieces by the likes of Marie Lund, David Nash, Theaster Gates, Lucas Monterastelli, Davina Semo and Oscar Tuazon and more into the new Madison Avenue store.
The decision to curate artworks in the brand’s worldwide locations, comes as part of an ongoing rebrand being carried out Slimane, following his decision to drop the accent from the label’s logo.
Merging opposite materials and inspiration, from dark parquet wood, steel and marble furniture to slick basalt floor, the first new LA, Paris, Milan and Tokyo spaces designed by the artistic director will focus on brutalist architecture and avant-garde artworks. Pieces can also be displayed inside glass boxes or hung from one of the rectangular black frames that are suspended above.
In London, the brand will inaugurate a Cheval Blanc hotel and associated restaurants, a spa and a flagship store on Grafton Street in London’s Mayfair.
